What Does CBD stand for?
CBD is actually Cannabidiol which is just one of the more than 100 Cannabinoids found in hemp and cannabis. Research has shown that the synergy between multiple cannabinoids is where the real magic happens.
Three main CBD extracts
Isolates, Broad Spectrum, and Full spectrum
- Isolates: are comprised of a single cannabinoid with typically no THC as a synergist. (no entourage effect)
- Broad Spectrum: is an extract that contains all compounds found baturally occuring in the plant, including terpenes,essential oils, and other cannabinoids. (minus THC with entourage effect)
- Full Spectrum: is an extract that contains all compounds found naturally occurring in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids (trace THC included with entourage effect)
Two main types of hemp
- Industrial / Commercially grown: typically grown outdoors for the main purpose of paper products, rope etc. CBD is extracted and the remainder is used for the main growing purpose. Typically treated with commercial pesticides etc.
- Artisinal/ Boutique: these plants are grown for the main purpose to make extracts used in alternative medicines. They are carefully bred indoors under strict conditions, many organically grown. These plants have specific profiles allowing creators like us to produce products that are specifically tailored to individual needs.
Entourage effects
Simply stated.. it is the component that causes relaxation,stress relief,mood uplifting,mind focus,sleep inducing,energy producing effects (just to list a few) it is thought to be directly attributed to the terpenoids found in the plant where the extract was created from.
Daytime/Nighttime relief
Depending on what profile the plant extract was made from will determine whether it is best suited for day time or night time relief as the entourage effect will come into play to give the benefit of relaxation or energy. Most CBD product producers have no idea which is better suited as the plant extract was made from numerous variations rather than a specific strain profile.
